Troubleshooting: Profiles

From BISim Wiki - Mirror I

Your user profiles are located in either %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\VBS2.

User-specific settings (e.g. keyboard assignments) are stored in a file named [VBS2 Username].VBS2Profile, (e.g. JackFrost.VBS2Profile).
General VBS2 settings (e.g. hardware information) is stored in VBS2.cfg.
Both of these are ASCII files, and can be edited with a regular text editor.

The profile folder also contains several subfolder, which contain, for example, user-created missions, AAR files, etc.

To save the profile(s) (or transfer them to a different PC), copy the whole folder to a new location.

Causes:

  • Config files are still locked by the operating system.
  • The mission contains references to an unused addon.
  • Corrupted or incomplete installation (dta\product.bin missing, or installed software doesn't match the dongle used).

Solutions:

  • Re-boot the machine.
  • Re-install the application, or, if it happens when starting any developer tools, run p:\tools\support\recreateToolFiles.bat.
