Introduction
For the US Army BIA has developed US Army Lite, which is available for free from the link listed below. (Even though currently only military personnel is able to download from the official sources, copy and use of it is free to anybody. See the EULA page for details.)
Download & Installation
Instructions for downloading a copy of the Virtual Battle Space 2 (VBS2) US Army Lite official military first person tactical training game:
Go to this link: https://milgaming.army.mil/
Once at the MilGaming Portal do the following:
- Click on the "Downloads" menu item
- Click on "VBS2 Install"
- Select "VBS2 Lite" by clicking on it.
- Click "VBS2Lite-3-24-10.zip (2.25 GB)"
Notes:
- This compressed file is 2.24GB in size so expect a very lengthy download.
- This is a "zip" file so you will need to download it to your hard drive and "unzip" it.
- You will need a CAC card at the present time to access this site.
- A computer will need a 512MB or better graphics card to run this application.
- A certificate of networthiness does exist and is available from the MilGaming Community of Practice for this application.
- This military application many be installed and operated on home computers.
