Nobody standing behind you, peeking over your shoulder?
Then why struggle with hidden password fields?
Tired of typos, forgotten CapsLocks, or just trying to figure out what the original password was?
Turn your password fields into regular text fields, and forget about those hassles.
The latest version (
1.2.7.0 for Firefox 5.0) is available either from
here or from the
Mozilla Addon site (which may sometimes be a few days behind, since the review process delays updates a little bit).
Update (2011/04/30): Due to the overwhelming feedback, I've decided to take the time to finally make my addon compatible with Version 4 after all!
I know how much it sucks having to choose between either upgrading to FF4 and facing those asterisks again, or staying with FF3 and keeping the passwords visible. So, in order to spare you that dilemma, I did bite the bullet - and it should now work fine with version 4.
I myself had avoided FF4 so far, due to the compatibility issue, but now that I can see my passwords again, I will start using it full-time, and in case there are still some issues with the addon, I should stumble over them sooner or later, and will try to fix them ASAP.
2011/02/10: I am sorry to say that there may not be an updated version of this addon for Firefox 4.
Too many things were changed inside the engine, without any regard to backwards compatibility, and with hardly any documentation to assist addon writers in updating their software.
I had to go through this process already once with FF3; and reworking the whole addon yet again for FF4 is just not worth it for me (after all - writing addons is not my job - it's just an unpaid favor I did for other Firefox users), and I cannot afford spending days and weeks updating the addon every time the core developers decide to make yet another major change without any regard to addon authors.
